“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."
Isaiah 55:6-7
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, their action (sin) caused mankind to be separated from God. The consequence for sin was punishable by death.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

GOD LOVES YOU so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

How can this be? Sin hurts God's heart, but He was willing to make this sacrifice just because He loves you and desires to have a relationship with you. It wasn't because of anything that you could offer to Him, but because of His love, grace and mercy. He freely gave us the gift of His Son. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

What can I do to have a relationship with Christ?

Acknowledge that you are a sinner and need a Savior (confession). Turn away from the act of sin (repent). "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

We must understand that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died and rose from the dead for our benefit (belief).
Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life on earth. "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." II Corinthians 5:21

Confess your sins to the Lord.  "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."  I John 1:9

Declare that Jesus is your Savior and Lord of your life. "Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9-10

Let us pray

Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died and rose from the grave to make me a new creation. Jesus, come into my life, take control of my life, forgive my sins and save me. I repent of my sins and am now placing my trust in You alone for my salvation. From this day forward, I desire to follow you. I accept your free gift of eternal life.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
